Spoon is a popular Atlanta thai restaurant which just opened a new location on the east-side very close to me. It is a nice open space, though a touch dark, in an easily accessible shopping center. Everything is ala carte, even at lunch. They do not offer the expected lunch specials as some other [...]

Cheesy yum!

As the mercury drops there are few meals I find more satisfying than a good bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. I like extra sharp cheddar, a good bread (a soft potato bread in this case) and for some extra zing I sprinkle some Old Bay & garlic salt on each buttered [...]

While traveling this past week, I stayed with my friends Tom and Raymond in their cozy home in Charlotte. They threw together a wonderful little dinner party, with fresh baked rustic pizzas and a salad featuring garden fresh tomatoes and corn. Raymond made all the buckwheat dough from scratch and served up six pizzas [...]

With five small very ripe bananas and a bowl of blue berries I needed to make use of… I baked up this recipe minus the spices and plus the additional fruit. The result was extra moist and extra tasty, especially when paired with lemon curd and some good vanilla ice cream, like Trader [...]

If I had to choose one thing I think you should always have on hand, sour cream would defiantly be a contender. It is a really good replacement for cream, giving food an unexpected tangy twist. I use it in both baking and savory dishes. I love to add it to pasta sauce, instead of [...]

I found my 1946 version of “The Joy of Cooking” at an estate sale a few years ago. Old or new, I think this book is a must have staple for every kitchen. I love that my vintage find still has the prior owners notes, both in the book and left on random pieces [...]
