In my pursuit of a happy and kawaii life, I recently discovered the uber kawaii Heliotrope, located very close by in Decatur! An eclectic emporium filled to almost bursting with everything from dishes to cards to furniture to original art. They are also one of the few, if not only stores in the South to carry Shinzi Katoh. Maker of some of the most kawaii bento boxes (above) among many other fun and useful items. Including; place mats, water bottles, notebooks and a fun new line of pens, which I snapped up along with some groovy packing tape.
Heliotrope’s slogan is “good stuff for good people” and that is spot on. Whether your shopping for a gift, or for yourself there really is something for everyone. You can find items by fab designers like Jonathan Adler and Orla Kiely and one of my favorite finds, a collection of items using illustrator Charley Harper’s beautiful mid-century works. I especially love his dishes (see the cup & saucer below) made by Tag.
Other good finds; russian doll manicure sets & sweet little suitcases (above) and these unusual 3-D glass vases with interesting layered images by Fringe Studios.

However, if you do not live in Georgia, do not dispair. Heliotrope has an excellent online store as well and be sure to check out their blog for the latest arrivals.
And to help celebrate over 20,000 hits (w☺w!) on Piewacket, they are offering Pie readers a 20% discount through September 24! Just enter the promo code: piewacket at check out. How cool is that? A big thanks to them & all of you!

Wow! Thanks for posting about this awesome store. I am in serious love with those bento boxes. While I live about 2 hours from Atlanta, I do venture that way from time to time for a dose of culture. I am excited to add Heliotrope to my list of go to places.
